The Florida Chiefs and Sheriffs, Florida Department of Transportation, Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Florida legislators have worked in conjunction with concerned citizens and organizations to develop Florida's Purple Alert Plan.

The Florida Purple Alert is used to assist in the location of missing adults suffering from a mental or cognitive disability that is not Alzheimer’s disease or a dementia-related disorder; an intellectual disability or a developmental disability; a brain injury; other physical, mental or emotional disabilities that are not related to substance abuse; or a combination of any of these and whose disappearance poses a credible threat of immediate danger or seriously bodily harm. Purple Alerts engage the public in the search for the missing person and provide a standardized and coordinated community response.

The developer who bought Coquina Key Plaza also bought a vacant parcel between 6th St S and Dr MLK Jr St S, in the Lake Maggiore area. These purchases represent the first major developments in decades within southernmost St. Petersburg, outside of the Skyway Marina District. Click the photo to read more. 

For anyone who has lived in Saint Petersburg for the past five to ten years, the issue of stormwater run off, spillage and the aging infrastructure has been an festering issue that has plagued the city under several Administrations. 

GPPCA is engaged to ensure citizens are informed on the latest developments regarding the city's remediation plans. This document gives insight into what is next in addressing the stormwater plan.

GPPCA is once again proud to have been awarded funds from the St. Petersburg Police Department Forfeiture Grant Program, 2020. The funds have traditionally been used to host in-person youth summits. With COVID-19, the Association pivoted to sponsoring at-needs pantries maintained by schools within Greater Pinellas Point.

On Monday, August 23, GPPCA President Barbara Ellis (third from left), Vice President Stephen Waters (fourth from left), and Director and project manager Danny E. White (second from left), delivered backpacks stuffed with essential supplies to Lakewood High School (Florida) Principal Erin Savage. The school has a robust at-need student pantry that serves deserving scholars. Go Spartans!
